STATUTORY NOTICE TO SHORT-TERM INSURANCE POLICYHOLDERS

(This notice does not form part of the Insurance Contract or any other document)


As a short-term insurance policyholder, or prospective policyholder, you have the right to the following information:

IMPORTANT: DISCLOSURE OF STATUTORY INFORMATION

Voorpos Short-Term Insurance Advisors (Pty) Ltd (hereafter referred to as Voorpos) accepts responsibility for its own actions and conduct, as well as the actions of its representatives and employees, while acting in the course and scope of his/her employment and/or authorisation of the FSP. Currently, there is no special exemptions granted to this FSP by the Registrar. The FSP also confirms that Voorpos is not a qualified appraiser. If Voorpos determines any value on a property or building, it is only an indication of the value of the property. The client may appoint a sworn appraiser at their own expense to determine a more accurate value.

INFORMATION ABOUT INSURERS

Voorpos is licensed and may represent more than one insurer or service provider. We do not have a personal interest in any other Financial Service Provider.

COMMISSION AND FEES

Voorpos receives commission from various service providers for services rendered on your behalf. As confirmed and agreed by you, the client, Voorpos receives a broker advice fee of 5% on the total monthly premium per month. The broker advice fee will reflect on your policy schedule. Voorpos also has different binder agreements with product suppliers and may receive an administration fee from the insurers for work done on their behalf. I, Stefanus Johannes Duvenage, confirm on behalf of Voorpos that we do earn more than 30% of our commission income from one product supplier.

PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY COVER

The FSP holds professional indemnity insurance cover and is underwritten by Camargue insurance company. The limit of indemnity is R10, 000 000.

IMPORTANT: OTHER MATTERS OF IMPORTANCE

  1. You must be informed of any material changes to the information of Voorpos or the compliance officer
  2. The broker must give you 30 days’ notice in writing of his/her intention to change your product supplier
  3. The product supplier, and not the broker, must give reasons in writing for rejection of any claim submitted by you
  4. Cancellation of insurance by the insured must be done in writing
  5. You are entitled to a copy of your policy document free of charge

DETAILS OF HOW TO INSTITUTE A CLAIM

  1. Theft and hijack claims must be reported immediately to Voorpos
  2. In case of suspected theft, burglary or a motor accident, notify your local police station within 24 hours
  3. Make sure you complete the relevant claim form and supply all documentation
  4. Remember to contact Voorpos Assist if you are involved in an accident. The number is: 086 100 7283
  5. Keep the following in mind:
    Important: You must prove ownership of any lost items (for example a valuation certificate or video recording of all contents in your home)
    1. Under no circumstances must liability be admitted for a claim
    2. All reasonable precautions must be taken to prevent or limit a claim
    3. If possible, take pictures of the damaged items for your records
    4. Do not destroy any article or evidence until the relevant insurers or their representatives have seen it

Please note that prior to lodging a complaint with the above authorities, you are first required to lodge a written complaint with this FSP. Only after confirmation by the relevant FSP that they are unable to resolve the complaint, may it be escalated to the above authorities. We have established a written internal complaint resolution system with detailed procedures. Access to the complaints procedures, and a copy of the complaint resolution system, are available to clients during business hours at the office. If you have a complaint, submit it to us in writing with all applicable information. Copies of all relevant documentation must also be attached.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACCURACY AND COMPLETENESS OF INFORMATION

Please note that in respect of any application, proposal, order, instruction or other contractual information that is required to be completed for or submitted to a product supplier, by or on your behalf, that relates to the purchase of or investment in any financial product, including any amendment thereof or variation thereto; all material facts must be accurately and properly disclosed. The accuracy and completeness of all answers, statements or other information provided by you or on your behalf are your own responsibility. Any misrepresentation or non-disclosure of a material fact, or the inclusion of incorrect information, could result in the cancellation of the transaction or the non-payment of a benefit by the product supplier.

WAIVER OF RIGHTS

No person may ask you, or offer any inducement for you, to waive any right or benefit conferred on you by/or in terms of any provision of the General Code of Conduct of the FAIS Act, of which a copy is available on request.
